Carmelized Figs over ice cream

In July, I stayed withy mother while she recuperated from cataract surgery. When my brother Dean dropped off these fresh figs from his farm, I knew exactly what I wanted to do with them. 


Carmelized Figs


2 tablespoons honey

1 tablespoon fennel seeds, chopped

1 pound ripe fresh figs, halved

 

Heat honey and fennel seeds in a large skillet over medium heat, stirring to combine. 


Add figs, cut-side down; Cook figs until caramelized, about 10 minutes. 


Serve warm, over vanilla ice cream.
